Status lifecycle
Terms don't die — they point forward. The
status attribute gives every term a governed life.

Why keep dead terms?
A glossary that silently deletes retired vocabulary teaches nobody.
A deprecated term documents the rename and routes readers
(and AI assistants) to the successor; a rejected term
records the argument, so the debate doesn't restart every quarter. The
Byline example keeps story (deprecated in favor of
article) and blogger (rejected in favor of
writer) for exactly this reason —
